One day I was surfing the internet and I came across these super cute little birdhouses. I thought they would be super fun to foil because Metallic Foils make everything better 😍 So let’s get started with these foiled whimsy birdhouses!
DIY Whimsy Birdhouse with Metallic Foils
I found these birdhouses at Michael’s and they were only around $5 bucks each! They needed a little sanding here and there and then I primed them with our fabulous Bondago in the color black!
Once the paint dried for a few hours, I applied a layer of Foil Adhesive everywhere I planned to add metallic foils.
You will want to apply one layer of foil adhesive and allow it to dry for at least an hour.
Then comes the hard part…
Picking which foils to use!! For this project, I decided on Copper Bark for the roof and Fine Line Gold for the sides. These foils transfer very well, but where the wood was rough a little black paint showed through which gave the project even more character!
When you are done applying your foil, make sure to apply a topcoat to protect everything. Next, I embellished my project with holiday greenery!
